What is Booklat?
If you happen to be Filipino, or someone who is currently living in the Philippines, then this is the place where you can find a vast amount of stories in Tagalog, English, or Taglish.1 As far as I know, Wattpad is a very hot spot for Pinoy (aspiring) writers to publish and present their stories to the masses, which also includes fan fiction of any kind2, but because of the fact that Wattpad is a Canadian product, I guess it was time for the Philippines to have its own writer community.
Speaking of Wattpad, yes, I will eventually publish Hawkeye K.O. over there as well.
The word booklat is a mix between the word “book” and the Tagalog word “aklat,” which literally translates as “book,” so the name fits. I did made a promise to a friend3 that I would at least post one work in there and meet other aspiring writers like myself. Hopefully this would pick up with the community there, as I have noticed that majority of the stories published there are all (teen-oriented) romance or rom-coms. Nothing wrong with that.
With that said, please do check it out if you are a Booklat writer/reader and hopefully we can hook up somehow.
On the sidenote...
- Taglish – a mix of Tagalog and English. Seriously, nobody speaks “pure” Tagalog in the Philippines anymore… even I don’t speak “pure” Tagalog either… [↩]
- and that includes those artistas and their loveteams and what not… [↩]
- a prominent PHR (Precious Hearts Romance) writer [↩]
